This Saturday morning, around 5:50 a.m., the cantonal police were alerted that a building was on fire at the exit of the village of Oberems in the direction of the Tourtemagne Valley.
Firefighters from Tourtemagne, Gampel-Steg and the Leuk region as well as an Air-Zermatt helicopter were mobilized to put an end to the disaster. Despite their quick response, the chalet was completely destroyed by fire, cantonal police said in a statement.
The house was unoccupied at the time of the fire. No one was injured.
An investigation has been opened to determine the exact causes of the fire.
