A cafe is for sale at the Švenčionėli railway station: the owner says that she has already driven kilometers to reach it | Business

The owners announced this news on their Facebook account.

“Profitable business for sale. Specifically, the company, equipment, work, concept, social media, suppliers, team, recipes, etc. The cafe is operational. This establishment is created with a lot of love and so sincerely. Loved, caressed. There are still unexploited development opportunities.

We are selling because we live 2.5 hours away and apparently we have already driven our hundreds of kilometers. It’s time to hand over this beautiful project to others who live closer,” the owners justify the reason for the sale in the post.

They were happy to meet warm people in Švenčionėliai, received support and appreciated it very much.

“In addition, Švenčionėliai is famous for its young active community with its own projects, events and festivals. A co-working space is located above the cafe. The studio of a world-famous photographer is on the side of the cafe. A bicycle rental point will open soon,” the post mentions the benefits.

15min following contacting the owner of the cafe, Guosta Marija Norkūnaite-Krupavičiene, she said that the cafe opened its doors in Švenčionėliai in 2022. in August. The woman spends 2.5 hours traveling there, because her home in the village of Dzūkija, Krūminės, is more than 170 km away from her workplace.

“But following a year and a half, I just got tired of driving. I was wearing rose colored glasses. I believed that distance is not an obstacle. For example, it is completely normal for Americans to drive such a distance to work, and I really believed in it. In addition, it seemed that we were very much on our way with the young community of Švenčionėliai, that maybe we would move there, but we didn’t move – all we had to do was drive around,” said the interviewer.

How did fate lead specifically to Švenčionelis, who, it seems, were not on the way at all? According to GMNorkūnaitė-Krupavičienė, there is a long and confusing history behind it.

“My husband and I lived in Vilnius, six to seven years ago we moved to a village in Varėna district. We bought an old purchase, a former village school. We decided to renovate it, we were looking for an architect to work on the project. While searching, we came across a girl named Eglė, who lives in Švenčionėliai. The latter was creating a young community with her friends in Švenčionėliai, doing interesting projects,” she said.

While working on the renovation of the purchase, the women became friends. At that time, Varėna district. GMNorkūnaitė-Krupavičienė had a bakery – she made desserts, she dreamed of opening a cafe, she was looking for premises.

“But I mightn’t find anything in the area – it’s ruined, it’s a cosmic rental price. At that time, Eglė kept explaining to me that my place was in Švenčionėliai, that the community was mine too. We went to the events organized by her, and later we also saw the premises of the cafe, which we later purchased”, revealed how the woman chose to establish the cafe in Švenčionėliai.

According to her, the premises in the railway station building impressed her. People come here by train, go hiking, go camping, and the cafe is a stopover.

“The central entrance, the exit to the platform, the tables on the platform – an extraordinary place. During the years of work, I have established close relations with the residents of Švenčionėlių – this is the greatest gift. It was a painstaking project,” she admitted.

GMNorkūnaitė-Krupavičienė insisted that she would repeat the very idea of the cafe – only she would do it closer to home.

“It hurts to sell a little because it feels like a piece of you. But we hope that someone who comes new will take everything from the upcoming summer season”, she hoped.

How much she hopes to get for this “baby” of hers, the interviewer did not want to reveal.
