A Brussels firefighter assaulted by a passerby: “He was putting away equipment”

“The paramedic was packing equipment into an ambulance when the passerby asked him what was going on,” the spokesperson added.

“When the rescuer replied that everything was under control, the individual suddenly punched him hard in the face. Our colleague was injured in the face and his glasses were damaged.”

“Our colleague is unable to work,” added the spokesperson. “We hope that the author of the facts will be identified and will be the subject of dissuasive and exemplary prosecutions.” The incident occurred Sunday afternoon around 2:00 p.m., rue Godefroid de Bouillon in Saint-Josse, the spokesperson said.

After the blow, the individual fled. A complaint has been filed with the police and the fire department will join the complaint and file a civil action.
