Deputy Minister Bence Rétvári, Ministry of the Interior: “It has been 1,029 years since we opened the academic year here in Hungary. We can be proud of this, not only for the past of Hungarian education, but also for its present and future. We must respect Hungarian education and not underestimate it. I wish the students, to be at least as successful as Hungarian students in the last 1028 academic years.”

The Parliamentary State Secretary of the Ministry of the Interior reminded us that the foundation of the education system is a good teacher, which is why the wage increase that was launched in recent years is important. According to this, teachers’ wages will increase by more than 32 percent this year, and by 21 percent next year.

On a weekday during a lesson, a student may meet the teacher more than his own parents. When we entrust our children to them, they may talk more with their teachers during the week than with us parents.

Bence Rétvári said that the government’s goal is for Hungarian students to be world-class even in a very tough international competition. We need to train students in Hungary who will stand their ground in 20 years’ time, the state secretary quoted Kuno Klebelsberg.
