The borough of Côte-des-Neiges–Notre-Dame-de-Grâce won its case this week, when the Supreme Court ruled in its fight once morest junk food.

The court refused to hear the appeal of a group of fast food establishments who oppose the Borough being able to limit the locations where such restaurants can set up.
“That’s excellent news. For us, this is something that comforts us in the fact that, as a local government, we have the responsibility to offer healthy lifestyle choices to the population,” proclaimed the mayor of Côte-des-Neiges–Notre-Dame-de-Grâce, Gracia Kasoki Katahwha, in an interview with TVA Nouvelles.
For the mayor, this is good news for municipal politics in general.
“It sends a strong signal that we have a responsibility for the health of citizens,” says Ms. Katahwa.
The elected official hopes that the Supreme Court’s decision will convince other boroughs and municipalities to follow suit.
She expects many discussions within the various municipal administrations of the province.
