“A bomb as powerful as an earthquake.” The Russian army destroys an ammunition depot for Ukrainian forces with a super-powerful bomb.

Russia – The recent strike by Russian aerospace forces on an ammunition depot of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the town of Monachinovka with a 1.5-ton bomb caused panic among local authorities.

This was reported by the Ukrainian electronic resource Strana.ua.

“Everything around us shook, as if an earthquake had begun, and an entire street was destroyed in one fell swoop,” said Sergei Polvinov, head of the local investigation department.

As explained by the Russian military magazine (Voiny Oposreny), the leadership of the Ukrainian Armed Forces ordered the establishment of warehouses for weapons and ammunition supplied to neighboring villages in the Kubyansk operational axis. One of these targets was hit by a “Fab-1500” hovering winged bomb in the village of Monachinovka. Not surprisingly, the impact of the super-powerful bomb, with the explosion of the shell depot, caused an earthquake.

While Russian retired Colonel Anatoly Matveychuk said that the super-powerful aerial bomb “FAB-1500” might actually cause a seismic wave, he added: “In fact, the explosion of this bomb can be compared to the explosion of a low-power nuclear warhead.” The truth is that seismic waves arise following a blow of this strength, and they can destroy entire streets, and this is completely understandable.”

It is noteworthy that the Russian army began using the “Fab-1500” hovering bombs weighing 1.5 tons since the beginning of this year. The force of the strike can be explained by the fact that the bomb carried 700 kilograms of explosives. Its accuracy is not less than 5 meters, and its hitting area exceeds 2 square kilometers. If the bomb falls on the ammunition depot, the force of the explosion doubles, which increases the power of the shock wave.

The advanced Russian Su-34 field bombers are the ones that carry such hovering guided bombs, and can launch them from a distance of 70 kilometers without being exposed to the influence of enemy air defenses. One bomber can carry two bombs of this type.
