A body found in a burnt car in Lonzée: the alleged perpetrator of the homicide in confession and deprived of freedom

The prosecution quickly confirmed that it was an intentional homicide. The victim is a Jemeppois born in 2001. He received two bullets, one in the chest, the other in the skull. The alleged perpetrator, a Gembloutois born in 1992, was arrested and confessed. A suspected accomplice, born in 1995, was also deprived of his freedom. It remains to know their motivations. Monday, around 2:50 p.m., the firefighters of the Nage Rescue Zone were called for a fire in Lonzée. A van, immobilized in a field was engulfed in flames. Firefighters discovered the lifeless body of a man behind it. The police, the prosecution and the scientific laboratory were required on the spot.

“The autopsy carried out on Tuesday evening had already allowed us to conclude that it was a voluntary homicide and that the death had not been caused by the fire”, explained the prosecutor of the King Vincent Macq. “The victim received a bullet in the chest and another point-blank in the skull,” he said Thursday followingnoon during a press briefing.

The victim, also the owner of the van, was quickly identified. His cell phone has been analyzed. He had previously had several contacts with a Gembloutois, born in 1992. The latter was interviewed by the police, confessed and was deprived of his freedom. He was heard by the investigating judge late Thursday followingnoon. His motives must still be clarified, specifies the prosecution. A suspected accomplice, born in 1995, was also arrested.

“It is very likely that two arrest warrants will be issued on Friday. It remains to know the qualification of the facts. It seems to me that we are closer to the assassination than to the murder”, concluded Vincent Macq.
