A billionaire profit for Loto-Québec

Loto-Québec posted a profit of $1.2 billion following the first nine months of its fiscal year, up 32.6% compared to the same period last year.


As last year’s results were affected by the pandemic, profit for the first three quarters of the current fiscal year is up 11.3% for the pre-pandemic period of 2019-2020. This is the best performance in 17 years for Loto-Québec, since the entry into force of the anti-tobacco law which had reduced traffic in gaming halls.

“Everything indicates that we will pay a higher than expected dividend to the government, which will benefit the entire community,” indicated the president and CEO of the state corporation, Jean-François Bergeron.

After three quarters, revenues reached 2.2 billion. Casino and gaming house sales were up 60.9% to 829.3 million. Gambling establishments also posted a strong increase of 45.6%, to 686.5 million. Casinos, gambling houses and gambling establishments were forced to close during the same period last fiscal year.

Lottery sales amounted to 742.2 million, up 0.4% compared to the same period last year.
