A Belgian or foreign coach for the Red Devils? Here is the profile sought by the federation

This Thursday, the Standard gives a little more precision on the desired profile of the new coach. First information: it should not be Michel Preud’homme. The former coach of Standard and Ghent is tipped to take over the cap of technical director of the federation. “The Liègeois perfectly matches the proposed profile and had already indicated between the lines that he was open to a position at the Football Federation”analyzes the Flemish daily.

As for the coach, the question is more open. Currently, the Task Force is moving more towards a foreign profile. “The federation will seek a high-level international coach who has already proven himself”, continue our colleagues. “The new coach must also be someone who can excite key players like Thibaut Courtois, Kevin De Bruyne and Romelu Lukaku. Players requested and received a commitment to be consulted in the application process. The federation wants to avoid at all costs that other Devils give up following Eden Hazard.” Information that agrees with that which we gave on December 5th.

No names have quite filtered out yet. “The football association has already received a pile of unsolicited applications and will be looking for interesting profiles itself.” The next coach will have to enter the financial nails of the federation. This excludes, a priori, de facto names like Thomas Tuchel. When he signed, Roberto Martinez received around 600,000 euros per year. After two contract valuations, the Catalan had a salary that amounted to 2 million euros per year. Will the federation go up to this ceiling? Normally, it should not exceed this amount.

The other big question is when the name will be announced. Currently, the Federation wants to give itself time for reflection. “The new technical director might possibly be there from the New Year. For the national coach, the federation does not want to set deadlines. With the exception of the Euro qualifier in Sweden on March 24.”

So be patient…
