A baby died after falling into a water tank

Under the status of “investigation of death” and with due notification to the Superior Prosecutor’s Office of the Public Ministry of the state of Aragua, the death of a one year and six month old infant is being investigated by the experts in Criminalistics of the Scientific, Criminal and Criminal Investigations Corps (CICPC), following falling into an underground water tank, an event recorded in the La Carpiera neighborhood of Cagua, Sucre municipality.

This alleged accident, where the life of a child was unfortunately extinguished, took place specifically in a house located on Rómulo Betancourt Street in the La Democracia sector, at noon last Sunday.

Through the investigative work of the news source of El Periodiquito, it was learned that the infant was in the company of his mother, whose identity remains anonymous. At lunchtime, the lady stopped to do housework to sit down to eat and in a moment of carelessness, her son went to the patio of the house where the water reservoir is located and when walking over the cover, which was presumably damaged, the baby fell into the well, where he apparently died by drowning.

After a while, the mother noticed the child was missing and quickly went out to look for him, but found his little body floating in the water in the house’s tank. Shocked by the terrible discovery, the mother took the child out and took him to the emergency room of the José María Vargas hospital in the town of Cagua, where the doctors on duty confirmed that the infant had not shown any vital signs.

Following this death, CICPC technicians initiated the corresponding protocol. They carried out the criminal investigation report, inspection of the body, inspection of the crime scene, photographic survey and interviews with family members. The infant’s body was transferred to the Senamecf morgue in the Caña de Azúcar parish of the Mario Briceño Iragorry municipality.
