This assessment has already been published before. The Public Procurement Service presented its position that the construction of the stadium may be overpaid.
At the beginning of February, it was announced that the Hanner company managed by Arvydas Avulis is taking over the construction project of the National Stadium from its concessionaire, the investment company BaltCap.
The head of the latter, A. Avulis, reacted to the discussions at the meeting, repeating that he is ready to implement this project.
“We have been waiting for conclusions from the Public Procurement Office and the European Commission, and we are ready to start work the next day. I can assure the Audit Committee that if we undertake this work, we will complete it. However, a decision should be made sooner. Time flies, many years have already passed, court proceedings have also taken place, and the construction of the stadium has become more expensive. I would like a solution – whether positive or negative”, said the businessman.
According to him, following receiving a positive response, work would be started immediately.
“My proposal for 2026 to play football in the stadium at the end is valid. I am ready to do that. If there is no interference, I will. I have to borrow 100 million from the bank. EUR and I still have to invest 30 million of my own capital. euros to be built. Both the bank and I are ready to start at any time. Your word and we will release the cranes and workers”, promised A. Avulis.
The head of the Public Procurement Service, Darius Vedrickas, said at the meeting that he does not rule out the possibility that the service will evaluate the final version of the concession contract for the construction of the National Stadium.
