On October 11-12, the minister is participating in the meeting of NATO defense ministers in Brussels, on the sidelines of which the meetings of the defense ministers of the Northern Group and the contact group of the Ukrainian supporters of the “Ramstein format” are also taking place. President Volodymyr Zelenskis participated in the latter for the first time, and A. Anušauskas presented Lithuania’s new support, one of the essential components of which is the demining coalition of Ukraine.
“We thank the states that have joined or are considering joining the coalition being created. The priority at the moment is demining equipment, which Lithuania and other countries could help purchase, we want to allocate a considerable part of our funds for this purpose,” said the minister.
A. Anušauskas emphasized that Lithuania forms support packages for Ukraine in response to Ukraine’s greatest needs and priorities. Therefore, Lithuania will soon hand over the air defense systems to NASAMS after launch, and together with individual European Union states, 155 mm ammunition is ordered for the Ukrainian army.
According to the minister, preparations for the winter have already begun, so in the near future Lithuania will hand over electricity generators and other equipment needed for the cold season to Ukraine.
