On X, formerly Twitter, a leaker claims that Samsung is preparing 3 photo sensors for 2024. One of them would display a definition of 440 megapixels, more than twice that of the already very powerful Galaxy S23 Ultra.
When we think of Samsung, we immediately have in mind its range of smartphones. You also surely know that the Korean manufacturer offers refrigerators or microwaves. What we sometimes forget is that the brand is among the best photo sensor manufacturers in the world with Sony. Rather than buying from the competition, Samsung creates its own and equips its devices (or others) with them.
Earlier this year, the Tech giant unveiled its brand new 200 MP sensor. A definition well above the previous generation and its 108 MP “only”. It did not take long to see what he had in his stomach since he is on board the Galaxy S23 Utra. The resulting snapshots are impressive details, even if software processing does not necessarily follow. Never mind, Samsung still wants to do better, and by a lot.
Samsung would work on a 440 megapixel photo sensor
According to Revegnusknown leaker on X (Twitter), the brand is said to be working on 3 new photo sensors. We first note the ISOCELL HP7 with its 200 MP definition and 0.6 μm pixels. It is the same size as the sensor of the S23 Ultra, of which it would logically be an improvement. THE ISOCELL GN6 would have a definition of 50 MP, but above all a 1 inch size. A first for Samsung that might benefit its high-end mobiles. We find this type of sensor in the Xiaomi 13 Pro for example.

Finally, the ISOCELL HU1 sensor would display an incredible definition of 440 MP. It’s hard to imagine how Samsung would manage to produce such a sensor without it being too big to fit in a smartphone. It is assumed that it will rather be intended for advanced driver assistance systems present in modern cars such as Tesla.
