A 4.7″ iPhone SE+ 5G in the spring and a 5.7″ iPhone SE 4th gen in 2023?

4.7″, it would indeed be the size of the screen of the new iPhone SE that Apple will unveil in the spring. Ross Young, analyst who has his sources in the screen industry, following other rumors already going in this direction. This new iPhone SE would therefore take up the design of the 2nd generation iPhone SE (which itself was only an improved iPhone 8 inside), as has been said for months regarding it.

More surprisingly, Ross Young claims that the device might be called “iPhone SE + 5G”, a name that would be new to Apple. There would be a certain logic in mentioning “5G” in the name since it would be the main novelty of the product, but the “+” would be unusual. Until now, Apple reserved the term “Plus”, in full, for models equipped with a large screen – 5.5 “in this case –, before its replacement by the term “Max”. This is Samsung, which names some of its smartphones like this: see the Galaxy S20+ 5G.

iPhone SE 2nd generation (2020) and iPhone XS

The analyst is also refining his forecast for next year: as Ming-Chi Kuo, he expects to see a new entry-level iPhone land in 2023, and adds that it will be called iPhone SE 4th generation – you follow? — and that it should have a 5.7″ screen. That’s almost the size of the iPhone X, XS and 11 Pro screen, which measures 5.8″.

If we assume that the iPhone 14 will have 6.1 “and 6.7” screens (the mini would fall by the wayside), an iPhone SE 2023 with a slightly smaller screen would be consistent at entry level. But let’s already wait to see if the predictions around the iPhone SE 2022 (“iPhone SE+ 5G”?) come true in the spring.
