In particular, according to ELAS, after a thorough digital analysis and utilization of data from foreign authorities, in the context of international police cooperation, internet users were identified who used a specific electronic payment platform to buy and share material of sexual abuse of minors. One of these users was located in Greece.
The above was brought to the attention of the Athens District Attorney’s Office, which ordered a preliminary examination, in the context of which the details of the person involved were obtained and his place of residence was ascertained.
A search followed, in the presence of a judicial officer, at his home where a mobile phone device, a memory card (sim), 4 portable storage devices and a PC hard drive were found and confiscated.
In fact, from the on-site investigation carried out on the confiscated digital evidence, a number of files (videos) of sexual abuse of minors were found in them, which is why the 37-year-old was arrested as part of the spontaneous procedure.
The seized digital evidence will be sent to the relevant Department of the Directorate of Criminal Investigations for further laboratory examination.
The arrested person will be taken to the competent Prosecutor.
