A 31-year-old man stabbed in his apartment in Montreal North

A 31-year-old man was stabbed in the borough of Montreal-North, on the night of Thursday to Friday.

The assault took place around 1:00 a.m. following a conflict that allegedly escalated between two people in an apartment located on Lapierre Avenue, near Maurice-Duplessis Boulevard.

Upon their arrival at the scene, the police located the victim who had been stabbed several times by a sharp object, according to the version of the Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM).

The victim was transported to a hospital to treat serious injuries, but these are not life-threatening, said SPVM spokesperson Manuel Couture.

A suspect, a 50-year-old man, was arrested on the spot and was to be met by SPVM investigators to determine his possible involvement in the armed attack.

Investigators will also meet with the victim and witnesses to try to better understand the exact circumstances surrounding the event, said officer Couture.

Although the reasons that may have led to this attack are not known at this time, the Montreal police maintain that the victim and the suspect know each other.
