A 250kg bomb from World War II suddenly exploded in Britain

A 250kg bomb from World War II has suddenly exploded in Britain. The explosion of the bomb was heard 25km away, but no one was injured in the incident.

According to the Guardian, on February 10 (local time), a bomb left over from World War II suddenly exploded in the town of Great Yarmouth, Norfolk, England. Local police said the explosion was “unplanned”, and no one was injured.

Earlier, on February 7, a local contractor discovered a 250kg bomb near the Yarre River area. As soon as the information was received, Norfolk police established a 400m-long blockade and built a sand wall around the bomb to neutralize it.

The method chosen by military experts to disarm the bomb was the “slow reaction technique”, which caused the bomb to explode under control. However, this option still has the potential to explode unintentionally.

“This was an unforeseen situation, the bomb went off while the neutralization process was in progress. Fortunately no one was injured in the incident. The environment agency is beginning to assess the impact of the explosion. “, said Mr. Nick Davison – Assistant Sheriff of Norfolk.

According to locals, areas 25km away from the bomb might also hear explosions and feel tremors. Currently, the roads around the blockaded area to defuse bombs have been reopened.
