Cinéma Beaubien has always given itself the mandate to give pride of place to Quebec films in its theaters. But for the past week, the establishment in the Rosemont–La Petite-Patrie district has outdone itself by offering, for the first time in its history, 100% Quebecois programming.

Since last Friday and until October 12, the independent neighborhood cinema is exclusively showing Quebec films on its screens.

Cinephiles are invited to discover new releases, such as Soloby Sophie Dupuis, and Simple like Sylvainby Monia Chokri, but also films released last summer, like The time of a summerby Louise Archambault, My mother’s men, by Anik Jean, and The red roomsby Pascal Plante.

“At the moment, we are lucky to have several Quebec films which are promising and which bring an audience to our theaters every week,” explains the deputy general director of Films du Cinéma Beaubien, Jean-François Lamarche.

“It’s been three months since we presented The time of a summer and there are still many people who come to see him. Since the end of the summer, we have practically had a new Quebec film released every week and the public is always there. This is exceptional. And that creates a ripple effect. »

Cinéma Beaubien’s 100% Quebec programming will continue until October 13, when the comedy Towards a bright futureby Italian filmmaker Nanni Moretti, will take the stage.

Until then, several other Quebec films will hit the Beaubien screens, including Days by Geneviève Dulude-De Celles (September 29), Testament by Denys Arcand (October 5) and Humanist vampire seeking consenting suicide by Ariane Louis-Seize (October 13).

“I’ve been programming at Cinéma Beaubien for 10 years and this is the first time we’ve had such an abundant fall in terms of Quebec films. We feel a great enthusiasm at the moment for our cinema and we are very proud of that,” rejoices Jean-François Lamarche.
