Say goodbye to outdated operating systems! As of February 1st,2025,the popular “eSignature” mobile apps, including “Epemas mobile”,”Eparakstslv”,and “Eid Scan”,will no longer support Android 8 and iOS 13,or any older versions.
This change, announced by the Latvian state Radio and Television Center (LVRTC), means users with older devices will still be able to use existing app versions, but won’t be able to download the latest updates.
“Details available to the LVRTC indicates that at present, less than 1% of ‘eSignature Mobile’ and other similar app users use obsolete operating systems,”
the LVRTC stated.
This decision reflects the ongoing trend of evolving technology and the need to ensure seamless functionality and security for users. The latest app versions are likely to offer improved performance, enhanced features, and better compatibility with the latest security protocols.
In a separate report, the LVRTC also revealed its notable financial performance in 2023. With a turnover of EUR 25,788 million, a 2.3% increase from the previous year, and a profit surge of 2.9 times, reaching EUR 16,314 million, the LVRTC continues to be a major player in Latvia’s media landscape.
Beyond its broadcasting operations, the LVRTC also manages parts of “Latvijas Mobilais Telefons” (LMT), the state-owned mobile operator, further solidifying its position as a leading telecommunications entity.
