After fourteen years of serving the Magheroarty community, Teach Coll pub and restaurant is closing its doors. This heartfelt decision was made by owners Billie Mc Quaid and Edward Muldowney, who are now focusing on welcoming a new addition to their family.
“This decision is in the best interest of our family, and we are grateful for the time we have been able to spend with all of you,” shared Billie and Edward in a message to their loyal patrons.
The couple expressed their deepest gratitude to both their dedicated staff and the community who have made Teach Coll such a special place. “We are honored to have been a part of so many special moments and memories,” they said.

Billie Mc Quaid: It’s been a challenging decision, but ultimately, at this stage in our lives, it’s the best one for our family. We’re excited about the new chapter ahead, but saying goodbye to Teach Coll is bittersweet. There have been so many fantastic memories made within those walls.
Arcyde: Fourteen years is a significant period.What are some of the most cherished memories that stand out for you during teach Coll’s journey?
Billie Mc Quaid: Oh, where do I begin? We’ve witnessed countless friendships formed, celebrations held, and stories shared. We’ve been privileged to be a part of so many milestones,from birthdays and anniversaries to the local Gaelic Athletic Association’s triumphs. We even had a couple get married in the pub garden! It’s these moments,these connections with the community,that will always hold a special place in our hearts.
Arcyde: You mentioned the exciting new chapter. Can you shed some light on what the future holds for you and Edward?
Billie Mc Quaid: That’s right. Our family is growing! We’re eagerly awaiting the arrival of our frist child. This is our priority right now. While we love Teach Coll, it requires a level of commitment that wouldn’t be fair to a new baby.
Arcyde: What will be the legacy of Teach coll in the eyes of the Magheroarty community?
Billie Mc Quaid: I hope people remember Teach Coll as a place of warmth, genuine hospitality, and community spirit. We always aimed to create a space where everyone felt welcome, where they could connect with friends, enjoy a good meal and a pint, and simply relax. That’s the legacy we’re most proud of.
