Stepping into Schmuck’s larger space,affectionately dubbed the “Main Living Room,” feels like entering a comfortable,intimate haven. Here, classic cocktails reign supreme. Drinks like “Fika,” infused with Bacardi 8 and Mr. Black, and “Blanka,” a delightful concoction of Four Walls whiskey, fennel, mustard vinaigrette, and pecan, showcase the bartenders’ mastery of timeless techniques.

Across the bar, the smaller “Kitchen” room presents a bold, straightforward approach to flavor. Drinks like “Le Banané” and “Caramelized Apple” beckon with their unadulterated profiles, showcasing the art of simple yet exceptional mixology. Schmuck’s co-founders, Aljaff and Larrouy, collaborated with Arash Ghassemi and Pauline deckert to craft a space that reflects the ever-evolving nature of their brand. “The beauty of the Schmuck brand is that it’s ever-evolving and truly cannot be contained to one thought,idea,drink,or mood,but the constant is mine and Juliette’s lives and where we are at a certain point in time,” shared Aljaff.

Their dedication to the East Village shines through. “We’ve been so welcomed by our New York hospitality family, who have been a great help to us, as well as the locals whose excitement for this project has given us those small energy boosts needed to keep pushing on.We look forward to opening our doors and serving the East Village in our signature Schmuck style.”

Schmuck is open Tuesday through Sunday from 6pm to 2am. Both walk-ins and reservations are welcome,ensuring a comfortable experience for all who venture into this exciting new watering hole.

What inspired the creation of Schmuck, and what do you hope people feel when they walk through your doors?

“juliette and I both have a deep love for vintage objects and a passion for creating spaces that feel authentically us.

Schmuck was born from that desire to build something unique and special—a place where people could feel at ease, escape the everyday, and connect with each other over exceptional cocktails. We wont Schmuck to feel like a living room,a haven where people can relax,have fun,and feel a sense of belonging.”

“For us, it was about offering different moods and experiences within the same space. “We believe in the power of change and impermanence. Every season brings new inspirations,new flavors,new music,and a fresh perspective. We’re constantly experimenting with our cocktail menus, exploring new music genres, and adjusting the ambiance to reflect the energy of the moment.

We want people to discover something new each time they step through our doors and feel like they are part of a living, breathing space.”

What’s the overarching message or feeling you want Schmuck to convey to its guests?

“We want people to feel welcomed, inspired, and a little bit transformed when they leave schmuck. More than just a bar, it’s a place for connection, for shared experiences, and for discovering a sense of community.
