Building a Brighter Future: Caritas Ambrosiana Offers Diverse Civil Service Opportunities

Caritas Ambrosiana is opening doors for young individuals aged 18 to 28,inviting them to join their civil service programs in 2025. The response has been overwhelming, wiht over 350 individuals already exploring these opportunities through informative webinars, demonstrating a growing desire to make a tangible difference.

This year, Caritas Ambrosiana is offering 111 placements across Italy and beyond. These include 97 positions within Italy, spread across 10 distinct projects focused on various pastoral areas, and 14 opportunities in three international locations: Moldova, Kenya, and Peru.

A significant highlight of this year’s program is the collaboration with the Consortium Makening Next and several associated cooperatives. These partnerships will see 39 of the Italian placements fulfilled within the Consortium’s reception and service centers.

“Choosing civil service within Caritas Ambrosiana, whether within the Consortium, its associated cooperatives, or elsewhere, allows individuals to truly test themselves, guided by their own sensitivities, across a diverse range of experiences that foster personal growth and civic engagement,” explains Giovanni Lucchini, president of the Consortium Makening Next. “These experiences cultivate practical skills, extending beyond customary caregiving roles to encompass areas like design, animal welfare, education, and communication. Essentially, we empower young people to address the immediate needs of vulnerable individuals while simultaneously understanding and combating the broader societal factors contributing to poverty, inequality, and vulnerability.”

Beyond traditional service areas like elder care, disability support, and mental health, this year’s program introduces exciting new opportunities in entertainment, design, dialog, and fundraising, directly integrated into caritas’ core operations and those of the Consortium.

Luciano Gualzetti, director of Caritas Ambrosiana, underscores the meaning of this initiative, stating, “the investment Caritas Ambrosiana has made in civil service since its inception 50 years ago is an investment in young people and a future marked by greater justice and widespread solidarity. Moreover, it is indeed a deliberate investment in peace: we firmly believe that
