NIYL: Thank you! “Growth” is deeply personal. it’s about navigating change, embracing vulnerability, and ultimately finding strength within yourself. I wanted to capture that journey through music, creating a soundscape that feels both intimate and expansive.
Archyde: Your bio describes your music as emotionally fueled. Where do you draw inspiration from?
NIYL: My upbringing in rural Ireland definitely plays a role. The landscape, the people, the stories – they all weave into my music. I’m also heavily influenced by film scores and electronic music. I love how music can evoke such strong emotions and paint vivid pictures in your mind.
NIYL’s journey to Eurovision is a testament to his talent and dedication. His debut album, Parish Is Burning, is scheduled for release later this year, and he aims to “amplify queer culture in the Irish music industry” with his music. He’ll be performing his Eurovision entry “Growth” for the first time on The Ray D’Arcy Show on RTÉ Radio 1 from 3pm today.
