Shigeyuki Furukava of Kado no Mise and Diane Moua of Diane’s Place, both based in Minneapolis, will go head-to-head with Abraham Gessesse of Hyacinth and Myriel’s Karyn Tomlinson, both representing the culinary scene in St. Paul.Mateo Mackbee, the culinary force behind Krewe in St. Joseph, completes the list of Midwest nominees.

I grew up eating my mother’s traditional Lao dishes, and those flavors have always been close to my heart.At Khâluna,we focus on the intense flavors and bold spices that define the cuisine,while Gai Noi brings a more modern and innovative take,pushing the boundaries of what people expect from Laotian and Thai dishes. But ultimately, your cooking should reflect your unique viewpoint and experiences. also, never stop learning and pushing yourself creatively. the culinary world is ever-evolving,and that’s what makes it so exciting.

Ann Ahmed: Sustainability is a cause very close to my heart. I believe it’s crucial for us to respect and protect our planet, so we can continue to enjoy the incredible bounty it provides.
