Panic adn confusion gripped Lily Lane Primary School in Moston, Manchester, on Wednesday afternoon, January 22nd, when a man allegedly threatened others with ‌a knife.

Shortly after 3 pm, reports of a disturbance involving a parent in the playground led to a swift response from armed police. The school was immediately placed on lockdown.

“My partner went to ‌pick up my daughter from school, but he was stuck there for ages,” recounted a distressed mother. ‍”He came back saying they wouldn’t‌ let anyone⁤ out and that there were police all around.”

“I was ​screaming that ​my child was locked inside,” the mother continued.⁤ “All they ⁣kept saying was that all the ⁣children were safe, but it was terrifying not knowing what ‌was going on.”

Another parent expressed similar feelings of fear and frustration. ​”When I arrived,​ the gates were locked,⁢ and teachers were running around everywhere,” she said.⁣ “Then ⁢loads of police turned up, with armed officers‍ going ⁢into the reception area. It was absolutely terrifying,especially not knowing anything about what was happening.”

thankfully, no one sustained injuries during the incident. A 20-year-old man has been ⁤arrested on suspicion of attempted assault. Greater⁢ Manchester ⁢Police⁤ confirmed ​their response in a statement: “Officers were called to reports of a man with a knife at a primary school on Kenyon Lane in ⁣Moston ⁤at around 3pm this afternoon. Armed officers quickly attended the school and as a precaution, the school was put into lockdown. Thankfully,no one⁣ was injured. A 20-year-old man was ​arrested on suspicion of attempted assault. Sarah Murray: Yes, we’re constantly reviewing and updating our safety protocols. Since the incident, we’ve ‍organized additional‌ training ⁣for staff on lockdown procedures ​and are also looking into‍ installing additional security measures⁤ around the school.
