ahsan: Thank you, Harumi. It’s a pleasure to be here. Even though this is a bittersweet moment, I’m happy to reflect on my journey with you.

Nakamura: Let’s dive right in. After 18 years at the pinnacle of badminton, what made this the right time to retire?

Ahsan: You know, Harumi, the decision to retire wasn’t easy. My body has taken a notable toll over the years, and I’ve always been honest with myself about my physical capabilities. Plus, Hendra and I have been very fortunate to achieve so much together. We felt that we’ve given our best, and this felt like the right time to step away on our own terms.

Nakamura: Your farewell match at the indonesia Masters 2025 was supposed to be your last, but a round of 32 victory swayed your emotions. How did that unexpected win affect your decision?

Ahsan: (Smiles) Well, I had already prepared to announce my retirement during that match.But you know me, I’m a competitor, and when I stepped onto that court, all I wanted was to win. Securing that victory in the first round just felt… right.It reminded me of all the reasons I fell in love with this sport.
