Johnny Van Zant (JVZ): Thank you, it’s a pleasure to be here. We’re really excited about playing in Prague for the first time.

Archyde: Let’s dive right in. Lynyrd Skynyrd is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year. What’s it like to gaze back on this incredible journey?

JVZ:-half a century, can you believe it? It’s been an incredible ride, filled with ups and downs, but we’re still here, standing tall. I’m incredibly proud of what we’ve accomplished, and I’m grateful every day that I get to do what I love with these amazing musicians.

Archyde: Lynyrd Skynyrd has left an indelible mark on rock music history. What do you think is the secret behind your enduring appeal and relevance?

JVZ: I think it’s a combination of things. First, we’ve always stayed true to ourselves and our music.We don’t chase trends; we just do what feels right. Second, we’ve got some incredible songs that resonate with people on a deep level. Lastly, I believe it’s our connection with the fans.We love playing live,and over the years,we’ve built this strong bond with our fans who feel like family.

archyde: Speaking of enduring relevance, last year, you released “Last of a Dyin’ Breed.” How has the response been, and what inspired the album?

JVZ: The response has been fantastic! We’ve been overwhelmed by the love and support from our fans. We wanted to make an album that reflected our history and legacy while also looking forward. We touched on topics like unity, resilience, and the power of music to bring people together. It’s our music, our story, and our fans’ story all wrapped up in one.

Archyde: Lynyrd Skynyrd has weathered many storms, including the tragic plane crash in 1977. How have you managed to keep the band’s spirit alive and continue making music?

JVZ: It’s been tough, no doubt. Losing my brother Ronnie and other band members was devastating. But we’ve always believed in the power of our music and the love of our fans. We decided to carry on, not just for ourselves but for everyone who’s ever been touched by our music. And honestly, playing these songs night after night keeps Ronnie’s spirit alive and reminds us why we started this journey in the first place.

Archyde: tonight,you’re playing at the O2 Arena in Prague. What can fans expect from your debut performance in the Czech capital?
