Carrie Underwood: Thank you so much for having me. It’s truly an honor. Making history is always surreal, but to do it for something as meaningful as an inauguration, it’s just… it’s hard to put into words. I’m still trying to wrap my head around it all.
Archyde: Your performance of “america the Stunning” was breathtaking.Tell us about that moment when you decided to start a cappella after the technical delay.
Carrie: (Laughs) Well, I guess when life gives you a hiccup, make it a beautiful start, right? (Smiles) seriously though, the delay was unexpected, but I trust my training and the support of my team. I thought, “Why not start a cappella? It’s just me, the audience, and our love for this contry.” It was a moment of connecting with everyone there, and I’m glad it resonated.
Archyde: The decision to move the ceremony indoors was weather-driven. how did you stay so composed in such a change of plans?
Carrie: It’s Like Liberty University’s Praise Choir I was focused on the message I wanted to deliver through the song. The weather, the venue, those were just details that I couldn’t control. My job was to sing, to honor our country and its people, and that’s what I aimed to do.
Archyde: The lineup for Inauguration weekend was incredibly diverse. Can you share your thoughts on that?
Carrie: oh absolutely. It’s so important to celebrate our unity, our diversity, and our shared love for this country. Seeing all those talented artists come together, each bringing their unique style and interpretation, it was just amazing.It truly represented the beauty of America.
Archyde: Now, switching gears a bit, your new album, “Cry Pretty”, is out now. Tell us about the inspiration behind it.
Carrie: “Cry Pretty” is all about embracing your emotions, your vulnerabilities, and letting them inspire you to be a better, stronger person. it’s about crying pretty, finding the beauty in those arduous moments. I went through a lot during this album’s creation – a fall, becoming a mom of two, and just a lot of personal growth.I wanted that honesty, that raw emotion, to shine through in every song.
Archyde: You’ve always been openly religious. How does your faith influence your music and your life?
Carrie: Faith is a big part of who I am. It influences my music, my decisions, my interactions with people. It helps me stay grounded, humble, and grateful. It’s not always easy, but it’s critically important to me to live a life that reflects my beliefs.
Archyde: Lastly, Carrie, what advice would you give to aspiring musicians out there?
Carrie: Be true to yourself and your art. Don’t chase trends or try to be someone you’re not. It’s hard, and there will be setbacks, but if you stay focused on what you love and believe in, you’ll find your path.
