It’s a real honor to be recognized by my peers in the LGBTQ+ community,” she shares. “But honestly, every gig, every award, it’s all been surreal. I’m just so grateful for the support and love I’ve received.”

Now, Arlo steps into the spotlight as a contender for Eurovision, following in the footsteps of Bambie Thug, who brought Ireland its best Eurovision finish in over two decades. What does it feel like to carry the torch? “It’s incredibly inspiring,” Arlo says. “Bambie really reminded everyone that authenticity and great music can take you to the top. I hope to make her – and all the amazing Irish acts before us – proud.”

Conor O’Hara (CO): bobbi, it’s an absolute pleasure to have you here today. You’ve had an unbelievable run in 2024, and now your ready to take on Eurovision with “Powerplay”. How does it feel to be the first contestant revealed for Eurosong 2025?

Bobbi Arlo (BA): Thank you, Conor. It’s amazing, honestly. I’m just buzzing to be on this journey and representing Ireland on such a massive stage. It’s both exciting and nerve-wracking, but I can’t wait for everyone to hear “Powerplay”.

CO: And we will get to hear it on Monday’s episode of The Ray D’Arcy Show. Tell us more about “Powerplay”. What can listeners expect?

BA: Well, “Powerplay” is an upbeat, empowering song that’s all about embracing your strength and taking control of your life. It’s got a really catchy chorus, and I think it’s got that Eurovision vibe. I’m excited for everyone to hear it and hopefully pore along with me!

CO: Your sound is unique, and your energy on stage is infectious. How do you think your musical style contributes to your chances of success at eurovision?

BA: I think my unique sound and energy are what set me apart. We’ve seen winners at Eurovision with a wide range of styles, and I believe my music can stand out in a crowd.I want to bring that power and energy to the stage and get people engaged with the song.

CO: Last year, Bambie Thug achieved Ireland’s best result in nearly 20 years with “Doomsday Blue”.Do you feel any pressure to build on that success, and what does it mean to you to represent Ireland at Eurovision?

BA: Oh, absolutely. I think Bambie Thug’s achievement was incredible and inspiring. I feel a responsibility to build on that momentum, but I also know that I just need to be myself and do what I do best. Representing Ireland is a huge honor, and I want to make everyone proud – from my family and friends back home to all the Irish fans cheering us on.

CO: You’ve had an extraordinary year with performances across Ireland and the UK, and even at Primavera in Spain. How have these experiences prepared you for the Eurosong competition and potentially Eurovision itself?

BA: Every performance I’ve done has taught me something new and helped build my confidence. I’ve played in big festivals and intimate venues, and each has its own vibe. But the most crucial thing is connecting with the audience, and I think my experiences have really prepared me for that. Also, Eurosong is a live TV show, so it’s a bit different, but I’m ready to bring that energy and passion to the stage.

CO: Bobbi, what message do you hope to send viewers and listeners with “Powerplay”, and what advice would you give to aspiring musicians out there?

BA: With “Powerplay”, I want people to feel empowered and ready to take control of their lives. It’s a reminder that we all have strength inside us, and we should never be afraid to use it. To aspiring musicians, my advice would be to believe in yourself, work hard, and never give up on your dreams.You never know where that passion and dedication can take you.
