January 19, 2025, was a night to remember for the Filipino girl group BINI. At the 10th Wish Music Awards held at the Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City,the group swept the stage,taking home three major accolades. Their victories included Wish Group of the Year, Wish Pop Song of the Year for their hit single “Pantropiko”, and wishclusive Pop Performance of the Year for “Karera”.
In addition to their trophies, BINI received an honorarium of Php 100,000 from the Wish Music Awards, which they pledged to donate to three charitable organizations: the Philippine Food Bank Foundation Inc., Enhancing Nurturing Disciplining Empowering Restoring Daycare Inc. (IT Tender),and the Leukemic Indigents Fund Endowment (L.I.F.E.) inc. Each member also took home a cash prize of PHP 25,000 per award.
The evening was also a triumph for other Filipino artists. The P-pop powerhouse SB19 claimed two group awards, while their members FELIP, Josh Cullen, PABLO, and Stell were recognized for their solo projects. R&B artist Dionela won Wish R&B Song of the year for “sining,” featuring Jay R, who also bagged Wishclusive R&B Performance of the Year for “Guiding Star.”
Arthur Nery’s “Segundo, Siguro” earned him Wish Contemporary R&B Song of the Year, while the ska-rock band Dilaw won Wishclusive rock/Choice Performance of the Year for their live rendition of “Orasa.”
As its inception in 2016, the Wish Music awards (WMAs) have celebrated Filipino artists across genres, spotlighting their achievements over the past year. The 10th edition of the awards honored over 70 musical acts across 19 categories, making it one of the most anticipated events in the Philippine music scene.
