Massimo Guasconi, President of the Chamber of Commerce, and Marco Randellini, General Secretary, are set to visit the Arezzo goldsmith companies’ stands at Vicenza Oro, the prestigious jewelry event running from January 17th to January 22nd, 2025. Their visit will include attending the official inauguration ceremony, highlighting the importance of Arezzo’s participation in this global showcase.
Arezzo’s presence at The Jewelery Boutique Show is especially noteworthy, with over 200 companies representing the district out of 1,300 exhibitors. This marks the first major event of 2025 for the sector and underscores Arezzo’s exceptional performance in recent years, especially in exports. The district has solidified its position as Italy’s and Europe’s leading hub for jewelry production, boasting 1,127 active companies—15% of the national total—and employing 8,411 workers, 26% of the industry’s workforce. In comparison, other districts like Alessandria, Vicenza, and Milan trail behind in both company numbers and employment figures.
Arezzo’s dominance extends to exports, contributing a staggering 46.6% to Italy’s total jewelry sales abroad in the first three quarters of 2024, amounting to €5.321 billion. Vicenza, Milan, and Alessandria followed with contributions of 15.7%, 12.6%,and 12.5%, respectively. A key driver of this success is Turkey, which has emerged as the top destination for Arezzo’s exports. turkish imports surged from €760 million in 2023 to €3.171 billion in just the first nine months of 2024. This growth is largely attributed to Turkey’s role as a central hub for the Middle East and Central Asia, coupled with Ankara’s fiscal measures on raw gold, which have made importing semi-finished or minimally processed products more economical.
Guasconi and Randellini’s presence at Vicenza Oro underscores the Chamber of Commerce’s commitment to supporting Arezzo’s entrepreneurs, whose innovative designs and advanced manufacturing techniques have elevated their creations to the level of high fashion. Additionally, they are scheduled to meet with the leadership of the Italian Exhibition Group (IEG) to discuss future initiatives planned for Arezzo’s exhibition center.
Arezzo’s thriving jewelry industry is a testament to its unparalleled craftsmanship, strategic export policies, and ability to adapt to global market demands. As the district continues to shine on the international stage, its participation in events like Vicenza Oro reaffirms its status as a leader in the industry.
