On January 12th, 2025, John, a beloved resident of Clareview, Limerick, and formerly of Gerald Griffin Street, passed away peacefully. His final days were spent under the compassionate care of Milford Hospice, following months of dedicated attention at St. john’s Hospital and University Hospital Limerick.

John was predeceased by his cherished wife, Claire (Shanahan), his sister Mary (Cronin), and brothers Timmy and Eddie. He leaves behind a legacy of love as a devoted father to Fiona and Brian,a loving father-in-law to Greg,and a doting grandfather to Sophie,Rubi,Jordan,Stephen,and grate-grandchild Jason. His extended family, including the Kellys, Flahertys, Shanahans, and Walkers, along with his neighbors in clareview and Kilkee, and countless friends, will deeply miss his warmth and kindness.

May he rest in peace.

Friends and family are invited to pay their respects at Thompson’s Funeral Home on Thomas Street, Limerick, on Tuesday, January 14th, from 4:30 PM to 6:00 PM. The funeral will take place on Wednesday, January 15th, at Our Lady of the Rosary Church, with the Requiem Mass beginning at 11:00 AM. Following the service, John will be laid to rest at Castlemungret Cemetery.

For those unable to attend in person, the Requiem Mass will be live-streamed on Our lady of the Rosary Parish’s website.
