Interview with Anthony Edwards: Rising Star of the Minnesota Timberwolves
By Archys, Archyde news Editor
As the Minnesota Timberwolves prepare to face the Memphis Grizzlies in a highly anticipated matchup, we sat down with Anthony Edwards, the Timberwolves’ dynamic guard, to discuss his breakout season, the team’s defensive identity, and his aspirations for the future.
Archyde: Anthony, thanks for taking the time to chat with us. You’ve been on an absolute tear lately, including a career-high 53-point game. what’s been the key to your recent success?
Anthony Edwards: Appreciate it, man. Honestly,it’s just about staying locked in and trusting the work I’ve put in. My teammates and coaches have been pushing me every day,and I’m just trying to bring that energy to the court. When I’m out there, I’m playing free, having fun, and letting the game come to me.
archyde: Your scoring has been incredible, but you’re also contributing in other areas—rebounds, assists, and steals. How do you balance being a scorer with being a complete player?
Anthony Edwards: That’s something I’ve really focused on this season. I know I can score, but I want to be a guy who impacts the game in every way possible. Whether it’s grabbing a rebound, setting up my teammates, or locking down on defense, I want to do whatever it takes to help us win. Coach [Chris Finch] has been great about challenging me to grow in those areas.
Archyde: Speaking of defense, the Timberwolves have been one of the best defensive teams in the league this year. How does that defensive identity fuel your confidence as a team?
Anthony Edwards: Oh, man, our defense is everything. We certainly know if we get stops, we can get out and run, and that’s when we’re at our best. Guys like [Rudy] Gobert and Jaden [McDaniels] set the tone for us defensively, and the rest of us feed off that energy. When we’re locked in on that end, we feel like we can beat anybody.
Archyde: You’re facing the Memphis grizzlies next, a team known for their resilience and high-powered offense. What’s the game plan going into that matchup?
Anthony Edwards: Memphis is a tough team,no doubt. They’ve got a lot of weapons, and they play hard every night. For us, it’s about sticking to our principles—defend, rebound, and play together. If we do that, we like our chances.
Archyde: you’re only 22 years old, but you’re already one of the league’s rising stars. What’s your ultimate goal in the NBA?
Anthony Edwards: I want to be the best, plain and simple. I want to win championships, be an All-Star, and leave a legacy. But more than anything,I want to help bring success to Minnesota. this city and these fans deserve it, and I’m going to keep working every day to make that happen.
Archyde: last question—what’s one thing fans might not know about you off the court?
Anthony Edwards: (Laughs) I’m a big gamer, man. When I’m not in the gym or watching film, I’m probably playing Call of Duty or something. It’s my way of relaxing and staying connected with my friends.
Archyde: Thanks for the insight, Anthony.Good luck against the Grizzlies and the rest of the season!
Anthony Edwards: Appreciate it, man. Let’s get it!
