Fair City Star Maclean Burke Hospitalized with Life-threatening Condition
Popular Irish actor Maclean Burke, known for his role as Damien Halpen on the long-running soap opera Fair City, was recently hospitalized after suffering a frightening health scare. The 47-year-old actor, who was also starring as the panto Dame, Polly, in the 3Olympia Theater’s production of *Freezin’*, collapsed after a Saturday night performance. Medical professionals diagnosed Burke with rhabdomyolysis, a rare and potentially life-threatening condition involving the rapid breakdown of muscle tissue, according to RSVP Live. Burke is currently recovering in the hospital and receiving treatment. Unluckily, this medical setback will force him to miss several upcoming panto performances. This challenging situation comes after Burke opened up about his recent diagnosis with ADHD as an adult. In interviews with *Extra.ie* and the *Irish Sunday Mirror*, he explained how this diagnosis helped him understand himself better, stating, “I was diagnosed with ADHD earlier this year [2023] which explains why I was mad as a brush. It made me realize how my mind operates. I hyperfocus to the point where it’s almost unhealthy and it can be destructive”. Burke also shared how his ADHD actually benefits his acting, allowing him to quickly memorize large amounts of dialog, saying, “If I have four A4 scripts for Fair City in front of me, I can inhale them overnight and memorise them.”Please provide me with the context or the question you would like me to answer. I need more facts to be helpful! 😊
