**Hi [Alex Reed Name], thanks for being with us tonight.**
**Alex Reed:** Thank you for having me.
**Let’s get straight to it.The closure of this busy line between december 26th and January 5th will certainly disrupt commuters over the holiday season. Can you tell us why this work is necessary and why this specific timeframe was chosen?**
**Alex Reed:** Absolutely. This is crucial maintenance work that will ultimately improve the reliability and safety of the line for everyone. The tracks on this section have seen heavy use and require essential renewal to ensure they continue to meet the highest standards. We strategically chose this period because passenger numbers are typically lower during the Christmas and New Year holidays, minimizing disruption to daily commuters as much as possible.
**many commuters, especially those who rely on this line for essential travel, will understandably be concerned about the disruption. What option transport options are being provided during the closure?**
**Alex Reed:** We understand the inconvenience this closure may cause. We are working closely with other transport providers to ensure smooth alternative travel arrangements. This includes increased bus services along the affected route, and we are encouraging passengers to explore options like the Luas and Dublin Bus services as well.We will be providing detailed details about alternative routes and timetables through our website and social media channels closer to the closure date.
**What impact will this closure have on other rail services in the Dublin area? Will there be any knock-on effects for commuters on other lines?**
**Alex Reed:** While the Connolly to Grand Canal Dock line will be closed, other rail services in Dublin should operate as normal. However, we anticipate an increase in passenger numbers on other lines and stations during this period. We are monitoring the situation closely and will adjust services as needed to accommodate the increased demand.
**Can you assure commuters that this closure is absolutely necessary and that the work will be completed on time, allowing for normal service to resume on January 6th?**
**Alex Reed:** We understand the public’s concerns. This work is absolutely essential to maintain a safe and reliable rail network for all.We have a dedicated team working diligently to ensure the project is completed efficiently and on schedule. We are committed to resuming normal service on January 6th as planned.
