Joining us today is Andrew Dasrath, Antonina’s 20-year-old son, who was home celebrating Christmas when the tragedy unfolded. Andrew, thank you for speaking with us during this incredibly challenging time.
**Andrew:** Thank you for having me. It’s still so hard to believe this happened.
**Archyde:** Can you tell us what happened that evening?
**Andrew:** My mom just stepped out to grab a quick drink from the grocery store. She lived just steps away, and the next thing I know, I hear this awful bang outside. I rushed out and found her on the ground.
**Archyde:** What was going through your mind at that moment?
**Andrew:** I was terrified. I was trying to keep her still and make sure she was okay. She was breathing, so I thought maybe, just maybe, she would be alright.
**Archyde**: The police have stated that your mother was hit by two vehicles, the first of which fled the scene. How does it feel knowing the driver of that initial vehicle is still at large?
**Andrew**: It’s infuriating.They just left her there. I can’t imagine how someone could do that, especially on Christmas Eve. It’s just adding to the pain and frustration we’re already feeling.
**Archyde:** The driver of the second vehicle, a Ford Expedition, has been located, but no charges have been filed yet.
**Andrew**: Right. they say he told the police he didn’t realize he had hit anyone, but how can you not see someone you literally just hit? Something doesn’t feel right.
**Archyde**: What message do you have for the driver who fled the scene?
**Andrew**: Come forward. turn yourself in. You took my mother from us, and all I ask is that you take responsibility for your actions.
