Beverly Walks Again Thanks to Generous Community support
Beverly Brown, a dedicated volunteer at the De Erker community center in Schiedam, has been battling multiple sclerosis (MS) for two decades. This debilitating disease, which damages the protective layer around nerves, can cause a range of symptoms including fatigue, weakness, and coordination problems. When Beverly learned about the Mollii suit, a specialized garment that can relieve muscle spasms and strengthen weakened muscles, she saw a glimmer of hope. Though, the hefty price tag of 10,000 euros seemed an insurmountable obstacle. Inspired by Beverly’s spirit and determination, Ina Blans, a fellow member of the De erker community, launched a fundraising campaign. Within a matter of weeks, generous donations poured in from the community and beyond, exceeding 8,500 euros – enough to purchase the suit thanks to a kind discount. “I was so happy with that,” Blans recalls.A Christmas Miracle
Just when Blans thought the campaign was a resounding success, an unexpected turn of events unfolded.A chance encounter led her to a representative from the Big Friend Foundation, an association dedicated to supporting charitable causes.Moved by Beverly’s story, the foundation pledged to cover the remaining balance. “I got a call at 10 p.m. in the evening,” Blans remembers. “And it was said that the foundation would make up the difference. I broke out in a sweat on all sides. I didn’t go to bed until 3:30 in the morning.” Overwhelmed with gratitude, Blans shared the incredible news with Beverly, who was deeply touched by the community’s unwavering support. On December 20th, Beverly was fitted for her Mollii suit. Now, after just one week of daily wear, she is already walking without a cane. “She sees it as a real Christmas present,” Blans says. The crowdfunding campaign,a testament to the power of community spirit, officially closed on Christmas Day.## Walk of Faith: Beverly Finds Holiday Hope in Mollii Suit
