Pushdot Studio to Close in Portland, Relocate to Astoria

pushdot Studio Moves From Portland to ⁣Astoria

After 23 years as a mainstay in Portland’s creative scene, Pushdot⁢ Studio is preparing for a new chapter ‌- a relocation‌ to Astoria.the beloved digital photography resource, printing studio, and gallery space⁤ will close its Southeast 11th⁢ Avenue ‌location in mid-January, reopening its doors in the coastal town in early February. Owner Lincoln Miller first announced the news on Instagram on December 20th. “It’s a little bit ‍of sadness for sure, ⁤leaving the community that has supported us and we’ve supported them⁢ for so long,” Miller told WW. “We’ve seen a lot of changes in both the technology of what we ⁢do and the landscape of the ‌city,” he continued,⁢ “but it feels like we were part⁢ of it. So there’s a lot ⁣of—not grief, but just⁤ sorrow in leaving something behind that you’ve been a⁢ part of for so long.” Since opening in 2002, Pushdot Studio has been a champion‌ for artists navigating the ever-evolving world of digital technology. Even the studio’s name is a playful nod⁣ to the technological landscape – a riff⁢ on “pushing dots” or pixels around. Beyond its digital services, Pushdot has⁢ also served as a ‍vibrant gallery space,⁢ showcasing the work of both local and international artists. The studio’s exhibitions initially focused on ‍the‌ intersection of art and‌ technology but‌ expanded over the years to embrace ‌a broader range‌ of fine art and ‍graphic arts. While ⁢Miller is excited about the move to Astoria and its burgeoning arts community, he hopes to maintain strong ties with Portland‍ artists remotely. “I’m just really thankful to the community here,” he shared. “I feel like⁤ it’s been ⁤a very collaborative⁤ business that we’ve had, and we couldn’t have done it‍ without them⁣ and I hope that they feel the‌ same way—that we’ve helped them. That’s⁣ what it’s all about for me.”
