Latvian Charity Concert “Come with us at Christmas!” Showcases Children’s Talents

Latvian Charity ⁣Concert Offers Children with Special⁢ Needs a Moment in the Spotlight

For over two decades, the “Come Together” foundation has been a beacon of support for children ⁤with⁢ special needs in Latvia, nurturing their creative talents through an annual charity concert titled “Come with ⁣us at Christmas!” This year, on the first Christmas Eve, viewers can catch a recording of the concert on LTV1,⁣ a special‍ showcase of talent and collaboration. The ‍concert, held⁢ in Ogre, featured a diverse program,‍ ranging from classical pieces like “Carmen” Suite to contemporary ⁣tunes like “Othre Boys.” “The program is suitable for both younger and older people,” shares Sarma Freiberga, the founder of the foundation. Freiberga, who has dedicated immeasurable effort to fostering the creative potential of these children, adds,‍ “We⁣ have been working together with director Marija Bērziņš for several ‍years. This year⁣ the program also has great visuals. On the video screen we show pictures that where used as greeting cards until 1940 ‍in Latvia. They will come alive at the concert, there will‍ be moving visuals.”‌ What truly sets this concert⁤ apart is the unique collaboration between renowned latvian artists and the children.”Each⁢ artist participates in the concert, supporting our youth and children,” explains Freiberga. “They ‍work completely free of charge. … This year’s concert took place in⁤ Ogre, the concert ⁤participants lived‌ together in wardrobes all ‌day, children asked for autographs,it is a big event for children. This‍ is our difference from other charity‍ concerts, because usually the artist creates⁤ a performance alone, but here it is created together with children. We create a concert, adapting to what a young person ⁢can do, because artists are already capable of everything. ⁤In the foreground is‍ the child’s ⁢talent, which the artist supports with his⁤ ability.” While the children do not choose their musical partners, Freiberga carefully curates⁤ pairings based on individual ⁤abilities and repertoire suitability. ‍As artistic producer,‍ she ⁣oversees all aspects of the concert, relying on a ⁢dedicated team of volunteers. This year, however,‍ securing financial⁣ support proved to be more challenging than usual.

“To ‌make such a big concert requires a lot‍ of financial resources. Children want to finally feel like real ⁤artists ⁢for once. That ‌is my bar that‍ I have set.”

Despite the hurdles, freiberga and her team persevered, creating a ⁣truly magical experience for the children involved and offering viewers a heartwarming reminder of the power of collaboration and the transformative nature of art.
