Adare Bypass Construction Set to Begin in New Year
Exciting news for the village of Adare: construction on the long-awaited bypass is scheduled to commence in the new year. Limerick City and County Council made the announcement, confirming that a joint venture between John Sisk and Son and Sorensen Civil Engineering, known as Sisk Sorenson, has been awarded the contract.
This significant development follows the Government’s approval in November 2023 to proceed with the construction of the 7km bypass, which will connect to Foynes.

We are committed to building and improving our roads network and will continue to invest in delivering vital transport projects like this, across the country,” he said.
Peter Walsh, chief executive of Transport Infrastructure Ireland, highlighted the bypass’s benefits: “The 7km Adare bypass will improve safety for all road users, remove unneeded through traffic from Adare and eliminate a major regional point of congestion on the national road network.”
Cllr Adam Teskey, who leads the Adare-Rathkeale district, echoed these sentiments, emphasizing the bypass’s positive impact on commuters, residents, and visitors. “The bypass will alleviate the traffic congestion experienced daily by commuters and will also enhance the safety and quality of life for residents and visitors alike.
