Hütterová Wins Thrilling Super-G Race in St. Moritz
Cornelia Hütterová dominated the World Cup super-G race in St. Moritz, securing her second victory of the season and eighth overall in the prestigious series. The Austrian skier edged out local favorite Lara Gut-Behrami by a mere 18 hundredths of a second, with Sofia Goggia of Italy claiming third place (+0.33). Hütterová delivered a flawless performance, especially in the latter half of the course. Gaining tremendous speed in the final turns, she overtook Gut-Behrami to clinch the victory. The Swiss skier, while initially holding notable intermediate times, stumbled on a wave in the lower passage, momentarily losing contact with the course and forcing a slight brake. Adding to the excitement of the race was the return of Lindsey Vonn, the four-time overall World Cup champion. After nearly six years away from the competition, the 40-year-old American showcased her enduring downhill prowess, finishing a respectable 14th, just 1.18 seconds behind Hütterová. “It was a perfect start for me. But today was just the first step, I want to achieve even more. As for the line, I didn’t want to risk anything, I drove conservatively in some sections. I needed to reach the finish line at all costs and credit myself a solid result. And that’s exactly what I managed,” – Lindsey Vonn Sharing a joint seventh-place finish with American Lauren Macuga was Czech all-rounder Ester Ledecká, adding another solid result to her impressive season. Reflecting on her victory, Hütterová highlighted her tactical approach. “I drove tactically very well and was able to pick up a high speed. After inspecting the track, I had a certain plan, but after the runs of the first female racers, I modified it a little,” With this win, Hütterová bolsters her standing in the overall rankings, closing the gap on joint leaders Goggia and Gut-Behrami in the super-G classification. The female downhill skiers will be back in action on Sunday in St.Moritz for a second super-G race, scheduled to start at 11:00 am.## Hütterová Cruises to Victory in St. Moritz
