**Archyde:** These reforms sound essential, but they are likely to face various hurdles, both political and economic. What are your top priorities in navigating these challenges, and how do you envision overcoming potential resistance?
**Ursula von der Leyen:** Change is never easy.
There will be resistance from vested interests, and some sectors will face disruption.
My top priority is to build consensus and forge partnerships with all stakeholders – governments, businesses, civil society and individuals – to ensure everyone understands the benefits of these reforms.
Openness and inclusivity will be key. We need to engage in open and honest dialog, address concerns head-on, and build trust.
**Archyde:** You have emphasized the importance of ensuring Europe remains competitive on the global stage. what role do you see the European Union playing in shaping the future of the global economy, especially amidst rising geopolitical tensions and shifting global power dynamics?
**Ursula von der Leyen:** Europe has a crucial role to play.
We must be a champion of open,rules-based trade and multilateralism.
We need to continue to build strategic partnerships with like-minded countries, based on shared values and interests.
At the same time, we must stand up for our values and interests, defending democracy, the rule of law, and human rights on the global stage.
Europe can be a beacon of stability and cooperation in a world increasingly characterized by uncertainty and fragmentation.
**Archyde:** Madam President, many Europeans are looking to you with hope and a sense of urgency. What message would you like to leave them with tonight?
**Ursula von der Leyen:**
I want to assure Europeans that the European Commission is committed to building a stronger, fairer, and more sustainable future for all. We face significant challenges, but I am confident that by working together, with determination and unity, we can overcome them and create a Europe that truly fulfills its potential.
