**Archyde:** Billie, welcome back to Archyde. It’s fantastic to see you again, especially after your insightful interview with Vanity Fair.Eight interviews in,what’s it like reflecting on this past year with them?
**Billie Eilish:** It’s surreal, honestly. Time just seems to fly by. It feels like just yesterday I was doing my first interview with them, all nervous and figuring things out. Now, at 22, I feel like I’ve grown so much, learned so much about myself and the world. [1]
**Archyde:** You’ve certainly had a remarkable year. What are some of the biggest takeaways for you personally?
**Billie Eilish:** Honestly, the power of genuine connection has really stood out this year.Spending time with people I love, nurturing those relationships, has been more important than ever. It’s what gets me through the busy schedules and creative pressures.
**Archyde:** Speaking of creative pressure, let’s talk about “What Was I Made For?” This song has been incredibly impactful, both in its vulnerability and its connection to the Barbie movie.
What inspired this track?
**Billie Eilish:** It all started with this unique opportunity to wriet a song for the Barbie movie. Finneas and I have always loved writing songs for films, imagining how music can contribute to the narrative. When we were asked to tap into the complexities of Barbie, a doll so iconic, yet often misunderstood, a flood of ideas and emotions came rushing in.
**Archyde:** The song beautifully captures a sense of longing and searching for purpose. Was that your intention from the start?
**Billie Eilish:** Absolutely. We wanted to explore the worldwide themes of identity, belonging, and finding your place in the world. barbie, despite being a doll, represents somthing larger – the pressures and expectations we all face as we grow and navigate life. [1]
**Archyde:** What can we expect from you in the future? Any hints on new music or projects?
**Billie Eilish:** Keep an eye out! I’m constantly writing, experimenting and exploring new sounds. My heart is always full of music waiting to be shared.
**Archyde:** Thanks for sharing your insights with us, Billie. We’re excited to see what you do next.
