“The character [Callas] has a lot of pain. they’ve of course seen me go through a lot of things, but they hadn’t experienced me expressing a lot of pain.” she said, adding, “It was interesting for them to see the pain that [Callas] went through and to see me as the character.”

Angelina Jolie is stepping into the world of opera for her role in the upcoming film “Maria.” The actress underwent rigorous training for seven months to prepare for the demanding role, wich blends her own voice with original recordings by the legendary Maria Callas.
Jolie described the training as “very physically demanding”.
“we started with regular singing classes and it was challenging in many ways, but when the opera classes began, what it requires with your breathwork and your body and just the force of what you push through yourself, it’s just a very diffrent physicality.”
Jolie, known for her roles in films like “Changeling,” “Maleficent,” “Salt,” and “Mr & Mrs Smith,” admitted she had never sung before and was initially “quite shy about singing.”
She believes the experience was ultimately rewarding. “”one of the greatest privileges of being an actor is you often are supported by a crew to try something and explore something you’ve never done and this certainly was most challenging,” she said.
