After a long and ‌arduous 15-year ordeal,‍ Mary⁤ Jane Veloso has⁣ finally returned to her home country, the Philippines. Her arrival at Manila’s ⁤Ninoy‌ aquino International Airport on Wednesday ‍morning marked a poignant homecoming, filled ‍with both joy and the bittersweet pangs of a life irrevocably changed. Veloso was warmly embraced by⁤ her ‍two sons, who ‌presented her with‍ flowers, followed by an emotional reunion with her parents, Cesar‌ and Celia. The reunion was a culmination of years of tireless advocacy and ⁢a testament ⁤to the unwavering hope that fueled Veloso’s supporters. The journey back home was facilitated by ‍an agreement between the Philippine and⁣ Indonesian governments. veloso, who was sentenced to death in Indonesia for drug trafficking⁤ in 2010,was granted⁣ a transfer to the Correctional Institution for Women (CIW) ‌ in Mandaluyong City. As part of the agreement, Veloso⁤ will ⁢serve the ⁢remainder of her sentence in the⁣ Philippines, with the possibility of clemency ultimately resting with President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos.

Hope ‍for ‍Clemency

In a pre-departure interview, Veloso expressed her hope ‌for clemency, stating, “Gusto ko na makalaya ako… Clemency… mapawalang sala. ⁢Kasi wala ‍akong kasalanan.” (“I want to be freed… Clemency… ⁣be found ‌without guilt.
