Miranda Maverick Secures Victory, But remains Unimpressed
UFC Tampa witnessed Miranda Maverick’s triumph over Jamey-Lyn Horth on December 14, 2024, with the former securing a unanimous decision victory. Despite extending her winning streak to an impressive four fights, Maverick was surprisingly candid about her performance, describing it as underwhelming and expressing dissatisfaction with her showing. “Despite the win, Maverick voiced her disappointment, acknowledging that her performance fell short of her own expectations. Despite securing a win in a recent bout, Maverick has been remarkably candid about his performance, acknowledging it fell short of his expectations. The match was marred by controversy, with Maverick receiving multiple warnings for blows to the back of his opponent’s head. “I’m treating this win as a loss,” Maverick stated on social media. “It was one of my worst performances. I think three warnings about hitting to the back of the head is plenty to pull a point, but it is what it is.” He admitted that the second warning “knocked [him] for a loop” affecting his ability to perform at his best. Despite the setback, Maverick remains confident in his abilities. “I know I’m better than my performance tonight, though, as do my coaches and any true fans watching me. I apologize for not showing up my best, but we all have rough nights.”UFC Fighter Maverick Resolute to Climb the Ranks
Despite a recent performance that fell short of expectations, UFC fighter Maverick remains undeterred in her pursuit of climbing the rankings. Her sights are set on a high-profile showdown with former champion Jessica Andrade in April. Following a recent victory, Maverick expressed his desire for a high-profile matchup against top contender Jessica andrade in April. It did not look like I deserve that, but I’ve been working my way up steadily and continue to improve every single fight. A bad night does not define me.”Honesty as a Strength: Maverick’s Path to Growth
In the fiercely competitive world of combat sports,self-awareness and a willingness to learn are invaluable assets. One fighter who exemplifies these qualities is Maverick. **Archyde:** Welcome to Archyde, Miranda. Thanks for joining us today.
**Miranda Maverick:** thank you for having me.
**Archyde:** Your recent victory over Jamey-Lyn Horth at UFC Tampa extended your winning streak to four fights. Congratulations on that outstanding achievement! However, you’ve been surprisingly candid about your performance, describing it as underwhelming. Can you elaborate on what didn’t feel right for you in that fight? [1] [2]
**Miranda Maverick:** It’s true, while I’m grateful for the win, I know deep down I didn’t perform to my full potential. Throughout the fight, I received multiple warnings for blows to the back of the head. That really threw me off my game, and I felt like I couldn’t find my rhythm. To be honest, I felt like I was fighting on the defensive for a good part of it, which isn’t my usual style.
**Archyde:** That must have been incredibly frustrating. Despite the challenges, you still managed to secure a unanimous decision. What does that say about your resilience and your ability to adapt during a fight?
**Miranda maverick:** Honestly, I wouldn’t say it was my best display of resilience.I believe every fighter has nights where things don’t click. I’m treating this win as a loss almost because it exposed areas I need to improve. I’m able to learn and grow from this experience. [3]
**Archyde:** looking ahead, you’ve expressed your interest in facing former champion Jessica andrade in April. That’s a bold ambition, especially after a performance you weren’t entirely satisfied with. What gives you the confidence to take on such a formidable opponent? [4]
**Miranda Maverick:** Jessica Andrade is undeniably a top contender, and facing her would be a massive possibility. While my recent performance might have some questioning my readiness, I believe in my abilities.
This setback fuels my fire to train harder and prove myself. I’m dedicated to improving, and I know with focused training, I can be ready for that challenge come April.[4]
**Archyde:** what message would you like to share with your fans after this recent, controversial win?
**Miranda Maverick:** To my fans, I want to express my gratitude for your unwavering support. I know some of you might be disappointed with my performance, and I apologize for not showing up my best.
I’m committed to learning from this, coming back stronger, and putting on a show you can be proud of.
**Archyde:** Thank you, Miranda. We look forward to seeing you back in the Octagon soon.
