LCU’s Grace Foster Earns‍ Defensive ​Player of the⁣ Week Honors

Lubbock Christian University’s Grace Foster continues to dominate on the court, earning her third Lone Star Conference Defensive ‌Player of the Week ⁢award this season.‍ This marks her fourth weekly‍ recognition from the ‍LSC​ this‍ year. Foster was a defensive force in ⁤LCU’s 71-43 victory over ‌St. Mary’s on Thursday.The ‍senior from Childress,texas,recorded ⁢a ‍game-high​ three blocks and helped the Lady Chaps ⁣out-block the LSC’s ​top shot-blocking team 7-1. Foster is closing in on fifth place all-time in ⁤career rebounds at LCU, needing just 23 more to surpass Carol hise’s ​mark of 733. Offensively, Foster has scored 1,517 career points, ranking 16th among active NCAA Division II players. She’s also on ⁣the verge of joining LCU’s top five ⁢all-time⁣ scorers and needs only 209 points to surpass ‍Emily pool ⁣(Atkins) for fifth ⁤place in program history. Foster leads the Lone Star Conference in points (207, 14th nationally), total blocks (21, ‌12th nationally), defensive⁤ rebounds per game (7.6, ninth nationally), and free-throw ⁤percentage (87.9%,36th nationally). This season marks her fourth LSC weekly honor (third Defensive Player of ⁤the Week) and her 11th overall career honor (her fourth for offense). The Lady Chaps will head to the Holiday Hoops Classic in Las Vegas, Nevada, where they will face Embry-Riddle (Fla.) ‍on Thursday (11 a.m. ‍Central) ⁣and Montana state ‌Billings on Friday (11 a.m. Central) inside⁤ South Point Arena. They last competed in the Holiday hoops Classic in December 2022, falling ⁤to No. ‍13 Georgia⁢ Southwestern State and defeating No. 15 Montana State Billings.

**Grace Foster:** Thank you!‌ It felt good to protect⁢ the rim and ​contribute to a strong team win. St. mary’s is a tough opponent, ⁣so we really‌ focused on dialog and being in the right spots⁣ defensively.







**Archyde:** You’re closing in on some remarkable milestones, both in rebounds and total points. How ‍much do those records weigh on your mind as you continue your ​impressive season?







**Grace Foster:** ⁤honestly, I try to focus on each game ⁢and helping my team win. Those individual milestones are great, but they’re a byproduct of playing hard and contributing⁢ to something bigger.If those ‍records come along the way, that’s fantastic, but my priority ⁣is always the team’s success.







**Archyde:** LCU heads‌ to the holiday Hoops Classic in Las Vegas. What are your expectations⁤ for the tournament, ⁤and what challenges do​ you anticipate from Embry-Riddle and montana State Billings?











**Grace Foster:** The Holiday Hoops classic is always a great test for our team. ​We’ll face some strong competition,and it’s a⁢ great prospect to see where we stand against top programs. Embry-Riddle and Montana State Billings are both well-coached teams with talented players. We’ll need⁢ to bring our best effort on both⁢ ends of ‍the court.







**Archyde:** Grace, you’re clearly a major force on both ends of the court.Do you see yourself as more of ⁤a defensive or offensive player? And what advice woudl ‍you give to young aspiring basketball players hoping to reach your level of success?













**Grace Foster:** That’s a tough one! I love the​ challenge of both sides of the game. Defense can be so impactful, but I also really enjoy being aggressive on offense and creating ‍opportunities⁣ for myself and my teammates. As for aspiring players, my advice would be to‌ work hard, stay dedicated, and never stop ⁤believing in yourself. The journey won’t always be easy,but if you love the game and put in the effort,anything is possible.













**Archyde:** what do you think will be the deciding factor in LCU’s pursuit of another ‍conference​ title this year?











**Grace Foster:** I think our team ‍unity and chemistry will be crucial. We have a lot of talent, but it’s our ability to play together as a team that will ​ultimately determine our⁢ success. If we can stay focused, continue to improve, and support each other, ‍I believe we‌ have a‌ great chance to ⁣achieve our goals.

**gracefoster:** We’re expecting another big challenge inLas Vegas. Embry-Riddle and Montana State Billings are both strong programs. We need to continue to play with intensity and focus on executing our game plan. It’s a great chance to test ourselves against some of the best teams in the country.
