Gayle King Gets Epic Surprise Birthday Bash From Oprah Winfrey
Gayle King turned 70 in style,thanks to an unforgettable surprise birthday party orchestrated by her longtime friend,media mogul Oprah Winfrey. King, expecting a holiday gathering for one of winfrey’s companies, walked into New York City’s Ci Siamo restaurant to a chorus of “Surprise!” from her waiting friends and family. Footage of the joyous occasion was shared on King’s Instagram page.
The star-studded guest list included celebrities like Katy Perry, Stephen Colbert, Angela Bassett, Jeff Bezos, Brooke Shields, and Andy Cohen.
A highlight of the evening was Winfrey’s heartfelt speech honoring King not just for her birthday, but also for their upcoming 50th anniversary of friendship. “In 50 years, we have been in sync, in each other’s corner, supportive of one another, looking forward to the best that coudl happen for each other,” Winfrey said in a clip of her speech.
Winfrey went on to praise king, saying, “The one person in my life who has always been just more overjoyed for anything that happened to me” and that “the world is a better place from the joy that Gayle brings everybody.”
The celebrations wouldn’t be complete without a stunning four-tiered birthday cake adorned with sparklers. DJ Suss One kept the party lively well into the evening.
“I can’t believe that you pulled this off; I can’t believe that you guys came for me,” an overwhelmed King told her guests. “I am just blown away by the people who’ve taken their time just to come… I’m so grateful. Thank you so,so much. I realy do feel the love.”

**Gayle King:** It was truly unbelievable! I thought I was going to a holiday dinner for one of Oprah’s companies, but when I walked into ci Siamo, everyone shouted “surprise!” My heart skipped a beat. Oprah,my friends,my family… it was a dream come true.

**gayle King:** Yes, and it was amazing to see so many familiar faces. It realy spoke to the kind of love and support I’m surrounded by.

Oprah has been my rock for 50 years, and her words were truly from the heart. To know that she feels so strongly about our friendship is the biggest gift of all.
