Jason Bonham Honors His Father’s Legacy with Led Zeppelin Evening
Jason bonham, son of the legendary Led Zeppelin drummer John Bonham, pays homage to his father’s musical legacy with his live show, Jason Bonham’s Led Zeppelin Evening. Released in 2012 as “Celebration Day,” the show is more than just a tribute concert. As Jason himself explained,”We’re not Led Zeppelin. We are fans. We love the music.” He emphasizes the dedication and passion poured into each performance: “We give it 150 percent energy and time to make it as good as we can make it to give people that feeling and make people go back to their youth.” Jason bonham’s Led Zeppelin Evening goes beyond simply playing the hits. The setlist includes a mix of iconic Led Zeppelin tracks and rarely performed deep cuts. For this year’s tour, the band has introduced fresh additions like “Friends,” “Achilles Last Stand,” and a unique arrangement of “Dazed And Confused” from the “The Song Remains The Same” concert film. Choosing the songs is a challenge, Jason admits. “There’s more deeper songs — ‘In The Light,’ ‘Friends,’ ‘Four Sticks’ — songs that never got played live and never made it to a Zeppelin show. The list could go on for the more obscure ones that fans like to hear. Of course, we still do ‘Kashmir,’ ‘Stairway To Heaven’ and ‘what Is And What Should Never Be’.We started doing ‘Dancing Days,’ ‘Houses Of The Holy’ and ‘That’s The Way’.” He finds immense satisfaction in performing this music for a passionate audience. “This show is one of the most fun things to do as I get to play all this great music in front of people that really appreciate it.”## Honoring the Legend: An Interview with Jason Bonham
**Terrie Carr:** Jason, thanks for joining us on WDHA-FM today. Let’s talk about your “Led Zeppelin Evening” show. What inspired you to launch this project?
**Jason Bonham:** It actually started as a way to process my experience playing with the surviving members of Zeppelin back in 2007 for ahmet Ertegun’s tribute. It was a massive honor, but after that, I needed a way to channel all that Led Zeppelin energy that was still inside me.
**Terrie Carr: ** I can imagine. Was it tough to start a tribute band after having played with the actual band?
**Jason Bonham: ** Absolutely. At first, I was hesitant. I didn’t want to seem like I was trying to cash in on my father’s legacy or disrespect the band. But it quickly became clear that this wasn’t about me – it was about the fans and our shared love for Led Zeppelin.
**Terrie Carr:** That’s a gorgeous perspective. How has the fan response been to the show?
**Jason Bonham:** Overwhelmingly positive! It’s become this amazing, organic festivity. We’re all fans, remembering and honouring the music together.

**Jason Bonham:** I think so. Fans frequently enough share their own stories about how Zeppelin’s music impacted their lives. They knew Bonzo as a legend, but I knew him as dad. It creates this unique connection.
