Huntsville Running Out of Water Due to Major Leak

Huntsville Faces Water Crisis Due to Major Leak

The town of Huntsville, Utah, ⁢is facing a critical water shortage ⁣after a⁢ critically important leak was detected in its water system. mayor Richard Sorenson has issued an urgent plea to residents, asking‌ them to conserve water immediately while crews work tirelessly to locate ‍and repair the leak. As of Friday afternoon, the town’s water storage ⁣tank had dwindled to a mere‌ 6% capacity. “We have a significant leak in our system and it ⁢has been determined to be between our water plant…and our 1,000,000-gallon water storage tank,” Sorenson explained ‍in a letter posted on ‍Friday. He added‍ that the leak was first noticed on December 9th, with the tank’s‌ water ⁤level dropping alarmingly fast. “We may only have 10 hours of water if we don’t find the major leak soon, and we don’t conserve the water we have,” Sorenson warned. Despite identifying several smaller leaks, officials have yet to pinpoint the source of ⁤the major problem. The frozen ground and snow-covered terrain are complicating the search efforts, but contractors have been ⁤authorized to continue the hunt. Neighboring communities, including Weber County and Eden, have been contacted for assistance, with Eden Water offering to establish a water filling station‌ for Huntsville residents. Sorenson emphasized the⁤ urgency of the situation,‌ stating, “At our current drawdown rate, ⁤we could be out of water by Friday evening.” He also urged residents to check on their elderly and less mobile neighbors to ‍ensure their well-being in case the water supply is entirely depleted. regular updates on the situation will be provided to Huntsville residents through email and the town’s Facebook page.
